Dorothy Lou Matthews was born on July 3, 1930, to John H. Crawford and Alma Lee Baze Crawford in Maypearl, Texas. She was the middle child of 12. Dorothy had many talents through her life. She worked in Eckerd Pharmacy under Jack Eckerd. She loved working with people. Dorothy was a meat cutter for the French Market in Fort Worth. She took classes to learn how to upholster furniture-mostly antique furniture. Dorothy married the ‘love of her life’, Billy Matthews on October 27, 1947. Together they had four children. Billy was a pastor for the Assembly of God Church. Together they mainly pastored in North Central Texas.  In 1974, they moved to Humble, Texas and started a church there – Christian Assembly. Dorothy never cared for the weather in Houston, so when Billy retired in 1987, they moved to Granbury, Texas. After they moved to Granbury, all their children followed them. They had adopted a great-granddaughter and wanted her to be in a small school. Billy died in December 2003. Dorothy then got involved with the Senior Citizen group. There she made many life-long friends.

Dorothy is preceded in death by 4 brothers and 6 sisters; her parents; her husband, Billy; her son, Bill and daughter, Donna; and by her granddaughter, Crystal.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Doris, Beverly, and husband Larry; daughter Brittany and husband Josh; daughter-in-law, Lori; brother Bobby and wife Mary; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; by many nieces and nephews; and by wonderful friends that became family, Laura and Carlos, Diane Foster, Roy Blackwell and Jorette Williams.

Burial will be held in Cope Cemetery in Burleson.
