Dorothy “Jean” Gresnick, 93, passed away on September 14, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Laurium, Michigan, and grew up near the Red Jacket Shaft in the Upper Peninsula before moving to Detroit.
Jean began her career at Hudson’s in Detroit shortly after relocating from the U.P. and later became the executive assistant to the owner of Pulte Construction, where she worked until her retirement. Jean and her husband shared a love of travel, experiencing memorable journeys to the Vatican, Medjugorje, and several other countries.
In the early 1950s, Jean converted to Catholicism, becoming a devout follower for the rest of her life. A tireless volunteer and organizer, she helped establish the Mother’s Club at Bishop Foley High School soon after the school was built. Jean served as a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish. She was a former board member of the Livonia Towne Club, volunteered as a visiting assistant at a local nursing home, and also operated a successful sewing business out of her home for many years.
Beloved wife of the late Edward J. Gresnick. Devoted mother of Mark Edward Gresnick, Yvonne Marie Gresnick (Russell Smith), Michael Scott Gresnick (Denise), and Nancy Jean Gresnick. Loving grandmother of Heather Grace Gresnick, Nicholas John Gresnick, Elyse Scheri (John), Evan Gresnick-Smith (Lucia), Emily Gresnick, Sarah Gresnick, Morgan Kampfmueller and Brooke Fowler. Dear great-grandmother of Ayden Wagner and Cameron Scheri.
Family will receive friends on Friday, September 19, 2025, 4-8PM with Rosary 7PM, at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers and Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Ave., Royal Oak, MI.
Funeral Mass Saturday, September 20, 2025, 10:30AM at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church, 32340 Pierce St., Beverly Hills, MI. Visitation at church begins at 10AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are appreciated to The Capuchins or Alzheimer’s Association or charity of donor’s choice.
