Doris Lucille (Gerhart) Younker, 89

November 26, 1935 – June 11, 2025

CLEAR SPRING- Doris Lucille Younker of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born in Hagerstown, MD on November 26, 1935, she was the Daughter of the Late Eli “Bert” and Helen Gerhart.  Doris was a devoted, loving, and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many.

Doris married the late Glenn “Pete” Younker on January 12, 1957 and they celebrated 65 years of marriage in 2022, prior to Pete’s passing.  Doris celebrated the births of four daughters, Barbara, Sandra, Pamela, and Glenda.  Her career included nurturing her children from baby, to school PTA’s, 4-H, Girl Scouts, High School clubs, sports, and travel, raising her daughter’s as a Christian Family at Grace United Methodist Church for over 50 years, serving on church committees, to a career in banking services and accounting in the plumbing trade industry.  Her wisdom and guidance through her daughter’s adult years, marriage, and raising grandchildren & great-grandchildren have been incredible.  

Doris is survived by daughters Barbara Pryor (Rich), Sandra Mills (J. Greg), Pamela Kriner (Mike), and Glenda Blickenstaff (Steve); six grandchildren Amy Adamson (Bud), Aaron Mills (Emily), Capt. Adam Kriner (Kaitlyn), Samantha Herbert (Dalton), Andrew Blickenstaff (Elizabeth), Sarah Blickenstaff (Brian); eight great-grandchildren; sister Millie Eichelberger (Jack); brother Harold Gerhart; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A mother’s love is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking, and it never fails or falters, even though the heart is breaking.  “Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  Love never fails.  1 Corinthians 13:4,8a (NIV)

Our families would like to express our sincere thanks to the many family and friends, Cathy Souders, and the private home care ladies during this time for their support.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, 11 am at the Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, MD with Brian Eichelberger officiating.  Interment will follow at Parkhead Cemetery in Big Pool, MD.  

The Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday from 10 to 11am.
