Donna Nellis

Donna L. Nellis, 81, of Johnstown, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and the wonderful, caring staff members of the Wells House Nursing Home.

Donna was born October 6, 1943, in Amsterdam, a daughter of the late Leigh G. and Eleanor E. Eagan Adebahr.

She is a member of the 1960 graduating class of Johnstown High School. Donna married Bernard K. (Bernie) Nellis on November 19, 1966. They celebrated 45 years of marriage just prior to his passing on December 12, 2011. Donna worked for many years as a Ward Clerk at Nathan Littauer Hospital. She additionally worked as a Ward Clerk at Ellis Hospital, a Receptionist at Cataract Care, and a Receptionist at Kwiat Eye Care. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church. Donna enjoyed spending time with family, especially her cherished grandsons, Zachary and Joshua. She additionally enjoyed bowling, attending Bernie’s softball games, visiting with friends, watching old western movies/shows, and listening to Elvis Presley songs.

Donna is survived by daughter, Nicole (Patrick) Morton of Johnstown; grandsons Zachary Morton and Joshua Morton of Johnstown; sister, Georgia Gay of Johnstown; sister Joan Galusha of Virginia; brother-in-law, Gerald Nellis of Gloversville; daughter, Danielle (Joseph) Sims of Johnstown; and several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with her wishes, no formal services will be held. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
