VIDEO: Real-Time Information Center locates attempted murder suspect in Carson City

On May 30, 2025, at about 10 a.m. the Carson City Sheriff’s Office: Real-Time Information Center (RTIC) received information that an attempted murder suspect from Stanislaus County, California, was possibly in Carson City.

The suspect, Troy Wayne McComak, was reported to have been involved in a domestic incident involving a firearm in Hughson, California, on May 28.

McComak fled from the scene of that crime and was reported to be armed and wearing body armor. McComak’s vehicle was identified as a 2009 Saturn sedan with California license plates. Investigators believed McComak may have fled to Carson City. McComak stated he would fight and kill law enforcement officers.

A license plate reader alerted the RTIC that McComak’s vehicle was in Carson City during the late-morning hours of May 30.

The RTIC worked with investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and the Nevada Department of Investigation: Tri-County Narcotics Task Force (TRINET) to locate McComak in the 100 block of Conestoga Drive in North Carson City.

Investigators established surveillance in the area and utilized a law enforcement drone to assist in the investigation.

Detectives observed McComak exit the residence via the drone and quickly moved in to apprehend McComak without incident McComak was transported to the Carson City Detention Center and held on a $500,000 bond on the following charges:

Fugitive from Justice for warrant charging
– Attempted murder
– Violation of a domestic violence restraining order
– Prevent or dissuade a witness
– Obstructions of communication with emergency services
– Assault with a firearm
– Criminal threats
– Brandishing a firearm
