Diane (Munson) Joy

Diane (Munson) Joy

Born in Bellingham, WA, to Herbert and Dorothy (Dahlberg) Munson.

Just last year, Diane was preceded in death by her husband Dan, whom she loved dearly. They shared over 50 years of marriage. This last year was very hard because she missed him. One of Diane’s greatest joys was family get-togethers where she would say to her husband Dan

“Look, Dan…We did all this!!”

Diane was raised on a farm in Pleasant Valley, Whatcom County. She had a wonderful childhood and was adored by her Family. Her childhood was full of memories of close neighbors and friends. Diane had a passion for loving her family and enjoying everyone she met. Diane kept a beautiful yard and flower gardens filled with interesting artistic sculptures. She loved working in her yard. Throughout her life, she enjoyed collecting interesting antiques and turning seemingly unwanted objects into beautiful pieces of art. Diane pursued crafts of all kinds, which she shared with family and friends. Diane was the Queen of Skip Bo, always ready to entertain family and friends while enjoying a good game.

Diane worked with adults with disabilities, and they were one of the great joys in her life.

She also worked in Estate sales and at Icicle Seafoods.

Diane was predeceased by her husband Dan Joy, daughter Serena, parents Herb and Dorothy Munson, and her two brothers John and Skip Munson

Diane is survived by her children, Tom deForrest (Reshelle), Zach Joy (Katie) Amy Hamner. Sister Marsha Donalson (husband Sterling), Sister-in-law Kathrine Munson. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Diane was dedicated to her family. She passed on the gift of unconditional love and had a generational family heritage full of stories and joy, which she shared with her family.

She gave us the gift of a life well-lived.
