Dawn Litty

Dawn Litty, age 52 of Cedar Rapids, passed away at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf House of Mercy in Hiawatha on Saturday May 17, 2025. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, May 31st from 1-4 PM at Geneva Tower (310 5th Ave. SE).

Dawn was born February 8, 1973 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Ronald and Dixie (Day) Bickford. She married Cory Litty on July 3, 1997 in Davenport.

Survivors include her husband Cory; children Takota, Steven, Devin, Candy, Stacy, Marcus, Matthew, and Shwoby; 16 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; brother Matthew Bickford and brother-in-law Gerald Litty.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Devin; sister-in-law Darlene Litty and mother-in-law Jackie Litty.

Dawn was the embodiment of compassion and loyalty. With a big heart, she gave freely of her love and time, always placing the needs of others before her own, especially her children when they needed her. Her gentle presence brought comfort, her smile brought light, and her words carried wisdom and warmth.

A creative spirit, Dawn found joy in crafts and the simple beauty of making something with her hands. She had an eye for the unique, with a special fondness for skulls and butterflies—symbols of transformation and mystery that suited her beautifully complex soul. The color purple, rich and vibrant, was her signature.

Family meant everything to Dawn. She cherished family meals, laughter around the table, and the joy of simply being together. She loved listening to karaoke – whether singing along or cheering on others, she found happiness in music. Her love for dogs was unconditional, and her furry companions were not just pets, but true family.

Dawn also had a deep appreciation for the show MASH*, drawn to its humanity, humor, and heart—qualities she reflected in her own life.

Those who knew her will remember her as someone who gave fully, loved fiercely, and lived sincerely. Her absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled, but her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched, the memories she gifted us, and the love she leaves behind.
