Celia Nelson

Celia Maria Lindsey Nelson, or simply Sally to her friends and family, passed away on May 17, 2025. Celia was born on March 15, 1971, and spent her life dedicated to loving and caring for those around her. She was a generous soul, always willing to lend a helping hand and making everyone around her feel comfortable and welcome. Her humor brought joy to those who knew her, and her humble nature was a testament to her beautiful spirit.

Celia was an exceptional woman who touched many lives throughout her time in Wichita and her true home, Wellington, Kansas. She was known for her incredible talent as a 3rd-grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary School. Her hobbies, which included sewing, knitting, and furniture upholstery, reflected her creative spirit. Yet, it was her love for gardening that truly defined her. With her hands in the dirt, she felt most at peace.

Celia’s love for her family was deep and unwavering, as the loving mother of Madeline Goseland, Remmington Nelson, and Garrett Nelson. She was also a devoted daughter to her mother, Carmen Lindsey, and a cherished sister to Sherry (Didier) Smith, Virginia (Christopher) Smith, and Nancy (Todd) Haselgren. She was the beloved partner of Kody Kinder who supported her through all walks of life. Celia was the middle child of five sisters and was known for having the biggest heart among them.

Celia is preceded in death by her father, Charles Kenneth Lindsey. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate her life and the love she shared with us. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 10:30am with a 10:00am Rosary Service at St Anthony & St Rose Catholic Church located at 210 North B Street, Wellington, Kansas, 67152.

We encourage friends and family to share memories, leave condolences, or sign her digital tribute wall at www.cornejofuneralhome.com. Arrangements by Cornejo Funeral Home + Crematory, Wellington, Kansas. Let us remember Celia not only for her loving, generous, funny, and humble nature, but also for her deep love for her family and her dedication to making the world a better place.
