David Sutherland

Assistant Chief David “Pappy” Sutherland, 66, husband of Gail Sutherland, died Wednesday, July 30, 2025. Born in Woodford County, he was the son of the late Billy and Norma Jean Dyer Sutherland, and was a member of Journey Church. David was a farmer and Assistant Chief for the Woodford County Fire Department where he provided 39 years of service. David enjoyed fishing, hunting and German chocolate cake.

David will be remembered by his wife of 41 years, Gail Sutherland, daughters, Robyn Valdez, Alecia Blevins (Kenneth), son, Matthew Wooten (Stephanie), Sisters, Lois Courtney, Jeannine Gillespie (Kip), Rusty Mynk (Larry), grandchildren, Ramey Medrano (David Taylor), Andrea Wooten, Karley Valdez, MaKenna Blevins, Kason Blevins, Archer Wooten, and great grandchild, Micah Taylor.

Family would like to thank Pastor Randy Nation the former pastor of Journey Church for his support.

Funeral services will be 5:00 pm, Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Journey Church. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 2:00 pm. Burial will be Monday, August 4, 2025 at 11:00 am at Rose Crest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Woodford County Fire Department. Honorary pallbearers will be John Varner, Kevin Wilson, Bo Wilson, and Brad Jones.
