Dan Williams Obituary 10/23/2025
Danny Williams passed away at his home in Arizona after a long battle with cancer. Dan started his agricultural career as a partner with his dad, Dale Williams, on the Williams Ranch in Eagle Colorado. After acquiring the ranch from his father, Dan went out on his own and operated a successful cattle and sheep operation. Dan was a member of the Eagle County Woolgrowers Association, the Colorado Woolgrowers Association, the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, and the Colorado Farm Bureau.
Dan had over thirty-five years of political and legislative experience. Dan was elected as Eagle County Commissioner in 1976 and served two four-year terms. He was then elected to the Colorado State House in 1984 and served four two-year terms. He was appointed Chair of House Transportation and Energy Committee, Chair of House Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Resources Committee, Vice Chair of State Affairs, Chair of the Interim Legislative Committee on Water Quality and Water Resources, Chair of Highway Legislative Review Committee, and was appointed to the State Board of Equalization. He served on the Colorado Governor’s AIDS Council and was a member of the Roundup Riders and named 1985 Colt of the Year. He received a portrait bronze by the Town of Avon as a “Citizen of the Valley.” He served as Trustee on the Board of the National Western Stock Show Association. One he was particularly proud of, he was named to the FFA Colorado Agricultural Hall of Fame in 2019.
Dan began his education in Eagle Valley with a brief stint at the University of Northern Colorado. He attended the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University in 1988 to refine his political instincts.
Dan applied his political and legislative experience in a government relations consulting business from 1993- 2019. He represented Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, Colorado Woolgrowers Association, Colorado Beer Distributor Association, Colorado Farm Credit, Colorado River Water Conservation District, Williams Energy Pipeline Midstream, and Mile High Racing and Entertainment.
Dan was born in Denver in 1947. He was currently living in Arizona enjoying a well-deserved retirement enjoying his passions for travel and music. He leaves his partner Robert Simpson, two children, Jeff Williams (Christine Williams) and Dana Williams (Charlynn Williams m. 1970-div.1997), a sister Donna Parker, and cousin Sue Tolvo.
