Daniel “Dan” Polencheck
Daniel Polencheck Sr. passed away Monday, morning at home surrounded by his loving family on August 25, 2025. He was born on June 24, 1936, the son of Mary and Hank Polencheck. He was married to Marlene (Flossy) Kempf on August 23, 1958 and had 6 children together.
Dan worked on the boats and as a logger for Bill Stricker and also JDK Logging. He then worked at LP Mill until he retired. He also cut many cords of firewood, enjoyed the Packers, Brewers, fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling, sitting outside, dancing with his white shoes, enjoying a PBR now and then and enjoying his family, friends, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his 4 children, Steve Polencheck of Mellen, Terrie (Ron) Brendalen of Park Falls, Wisconsin, Mark (Pam) Polencheck of Mellen and Tim Polencheck of Mellen, daughter-in-law Shelly Polencheck. 3 grandchildren, Troy Polencheck of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Shane and Samantha Klevgard of Marinesco, Michigan, Bo and Tara Klevgard of Mellen, Wisconsin, Nikki Traczyk of Oshkosh, Wisconsin and Jessica Kretzschmar of Mellen, Wisconsin. Great grandchildren, Mya, Knox and Thea Klevgard, Trinity and Haily Pearson and Christopher Klevgard of Mellen. Sister Jeannie Krause, brother Billy and Denise Polencheck and Pete and Donna Polencheck. Many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Marlene (Flossy) Polencheck, sons Corey and Danny Jr., great grandsons, Blair Boening and Easton Klevgard. Many relatives, aunts and uncles, brothers, sisters and his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5:30pm on Friday, August 29, with a gathering from 4pm to 5:30pm at Mountain Funeral Home in Mellen, Wisconsin with Pastor Brock Brandenburg officiating. Dinner to follow at Morse Town Hall with the sharing of memories about Dan.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Mountain Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ashland and Mellen, WI.
