Uxbridge- Claire J. Lajoie, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2025. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Daniel Lajoie and her brother, Louis Dykstra.
Born on December 31, 1945 in Worcester, MA, Claire was a cherished daughter to the late Matthew and Elizabeth “Betty” (Lanting) Dykstra.
A proud graduate of Northbridge High School, Claire furthered her education at hairdressing school, which paved the way for her lifelong career as a hairdresser. She spent many years skillfully styling and brightening the days of her clients at Hairworks salon and various other salons in the area.
Claire was an active member of the Whitinsville Christian School Mothers Club, where she contributed her time and talents to support the school’s mission. Her competitive spirit shone brightly in her bowling league, where she forged lasting friendships and shared countless laughs. In the 1970’s, Claire discovered a love for painting, which allowed her to express her creativity and keen eye for beauty.
An exceptional cook and baker, Claire delighted in preparing meals for her family and friends. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where recipes were shared, stories were told, and memories were made.
Claire is survived by her children, Lisa Wiersma of Uxbridge, MA, Daniel Lajoie and his wife, Amy, of Oceanside, California,
Steven Lajoie of Boston, MA, Janet Lajoie and her fiance, Frank Delgado, of Worcester, MA, and 2 brothers, Ralph Dykstra and his wife, Connie, of Madison, CT, Harvey Dykstra and his wife, Edna, of NV,1 sister, Janet Fairbanks and her husband, Arthur, of East Falmouth, MA, 7 grandchildren, Brianna Wiersma, Sophie Desrosiers and her husband, Matthew, Benjamin Wiersma, Madelyn Lajoie,Chloe Smith and her husband, Garrett, and Jameson and Ryder Iraci and 2 great grandchildren, Daniel Vaughan, and Presley Smith.
Visiting Hours will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2025 from 9:30-11:00 am at the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 101 N. Main Street, Rte. 122, Uxbridge, followed by funeral services at 11:00 am.
Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Granite Street, Uxbridge.
