Chester Guild
- June 24, 2025

Chester “Chet” Warren Guild, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and military veteran, passed away while at home surrounded by his family on 16 June 2025. He was 81 years young.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, Chet was an 11th generation Massachusetts Guild dating back to 1636-Dedham’s town founders with a long history of patriots who fought in nearly every major American conflict dating back to King Phillip’s War-1675, the Revolutionary War, and over a hundred of his ancestors answered the call during the Civil War. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Throughout his lifetime, he found happiness and satisfaction cherishing times with family, while never missing a single holiday without having spent them together. These tight-knit family bonds were the cornerstone of his life, and his love for them was immeasurable.
Chet, like many salt of the earth New Englander’s, encompassed an unwavering loyalty for our New England sports teams. Especially football dating back to the early years watching the Boston Patriots play at Fenway Park. His other equally passionate love for the game involved the Nebraska Cornhuskers where his son played football. Away from sporting events, his life was a testament to his interminable will, drive and adventurous nature. Always eager to explore new horizons, whether locally behind the wheel of a car on long day trips with his wife, or by way of international travel and tropical cruises.
He leaves behind a legacy extending beyond that of his humble upbringing. Cherished by his devoted wife of 60 years; Shirley, his son Darren, daughter Christine Simpson, her partner David Schwabe, beloved grandchildren; Ashley and Ben; and his sister Marie Rechkemmer. Chet’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed.
Memorial services celebrating Chet’s 81-year journey will be held on the morning of Friday 27 June at the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St, Clinton, with calling hours from 9:30-10:30AM, immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union Street, Clinton, and burial in St. John’s Cemetery, Lancaster.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations are welcomed in Chet’s honor attributable to the family’s non-profit organization: Post-22: Training & Employment for Disabled Adults
1300 Union Street, Westborough, MA 01581 www.post-22.com.
