Catmandu’s Cat of the week: Angel, given a second chance at life after being mistaken for a senior, all but ruining her chances at adoption

Angel’s journey to Catmandu is one filled with misunderstanding, miscommunication, and, ultimately, resilience.

When her elderly owner was moved into memory care due to advanced dementia, Angel was reported to be 17 or 18 years old. That error turned out to be nearly a death sentence. With most shelters reluctant or unable to take in a cat of such an advanced age, Angel had nowhere to go.

But fate had other plans.

A compassionate woman learned of her situation and took her in, only to discover that her own resident cat couldn’t accept Angel into the home.

Despite the love and effort, the match simply didn’t work out. That’s when Angel came to Catmandu—and we’re so glad she did. After getting to know her, it was clear: Angel isn’t 17 or 18, she’s 7 or 8 at most.

Our incredible Vet with All Creatures examined her and confirmed our suspision; she is still young and spritely. Full of playful energy and affectionate charm, she has so much love still to give.

Angel adores being brushed and pampered, and she’s got a particular fondness for lap time—just toss a soft blanket over your legs and you’ll have an instant cuddle buddy.

She enjoys playing when the mood strikes and thrives in a quiet, one-on-one setting. While she previously lived with other cats, she clearly prefers to be the only pet in her kingdom, soaking up all the love for herself.

Angel is available for adoption and she’s hoping to find a quiet, loving home where she can continue her reign as queen of comfort.

If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly companion with a whole lot of love to give, Angel is ready to settle into your heart. Come meet Angel this weekend at Catmandu. We are open Friday – Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm at 1829 Brown Street.
