Carson City sheriff’s arrests: Man booked for alleged domestic battery

A 24-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

At 10:37 p.m. Carson City sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Imperial Way for a report by an anonymous person of a possible domestic fight. Deputies arrived and heard, outside the residence window, a male and female arguing.

A deputy knocked on the front door and it was answered by a female who was red in the face from crying. She had tears running down her cheeks and had a hard time speaking with the deputy because she was upset, the report states. She was wearing a shirt that was ripped on the left shoulder. A deputy asked if she would speak to another deputy. She said she wanted to change her shirt, which she changed it in the bedroom. She spoke with another deputy on scene.

A then deputy spoke with the woman’s boyfriend, who had multiple cuts and bumps on his forehead. The deputy asked if he needed medical attention and he said “no,” the report states.

The deputy asked what happened between him and the woman. The man just looked at the deputy, the report states. The officer asked how he got cuts and bumps on his head. He said he hit his head on the door. The deputy asked if the woman caused the cuts and he said “no.”

The deputy explained to the man that they were called to the home because someone heard the arguing and fighting and was concerned. The man said the woman was mad at him because she said he was mean. He also said he understands why she said that and he is mean sometimes, the report states. The deputy asked the man if there was any physical altercation between him and the woman. He said “no.”

A deputy went to the bedroom to speak with the woman and asked her why she was so upset and she said it was because he doesn’t care about the birth of their child and that she is pregnant, according to the report.

When the deputy walked in the bedroom they saw the door frame of the bedroom door was shattered in pieces. The deputy asked when the door frame was damaged. The woman said “tonight.” The deputy asked if there was a physical fight with her and the man and she began to cry, the report states.

The deputy asked if she had any injuries. She showed the deputy the back of her neck, which had a fresh scrape on it with broken skin. The deputy asked her what happened and she said the man grabbed the back of her neck and pressed something against it. She said she thought it was a Sharpie but could not be sure because he was behind her.

The deputy asked if she hit the man at any time and she said the man grabbed her by the hands and tried to apply pressure to her fingers to break them. She said the man grabbed her wrists when she tried to pull her arms away from him and he would try to use her hands to hit himself in the face, the report states.

The deputy asked if she had any other bruise or marks she could show. She showed the deputy marks on her wrist that align with her story of the man grabbing her by the wrists.

Based on the woman’s statements, the man’s statements and the physical evidence, the man was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. The officer provided the woman with a domestic violence card and explained the process of applying for a temporary protection order. The man was taken to jail without incident. Bail: $3,137.
