Brent Lindstrom

Brent C. Lindstrom, age 93, left his earthly existence on May 21, 2025, from his home in Provo, Utah, after living a wonderful life.
Brent was born Dec. 13, 1931, in the small mining town of Spring Canyon located close to Price, Utah. His parents were Godfrey G. Lindstrom and Francis Cowley Lindstrom. He was the youngest of three brothers. Brent attended elementary school in Spring Canyon and for a short time in Salt Lake City while his father was serving in the legislature. He then attended Price Junior High and Price High School serving as Senior Class President and Preferred Man. After one year at Carbon College, he went to BYU on a journalism scholarship. After a couple of years at BYU, he left to serve a mission in the Spanish American mission in New Mexico and Texas. Upon returning home, he finished his degree and graduated from BYU in 1957. He then spent a year filling the requirements to certify as a teacher.
Brent began teaching English and Journalism at Provo High School in 1958. After several years, he became the Community School Director under a program to open schools at night for classes and activities. Many received their GED certificates under this program. Later, he became Assistant Principal at Provo High. He helped in some of the planning of Timpview High School, and after it had been in operation one year, the principal asked Brent of come there and be Assistant Principal. He was grateful for that opportunity to serve where his children went to school so he could be be involved in their activities.
He was loved by many students with whom he taught and served. Brent was president of the Provo Education Association, belonged to the Kiwanis Club, and served as the chair for the Provo School district in gaining funds for the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center expansion in 1974.
Brent thoroughly enjoyed listening to music, especially musicals, opera, and sacred music. As a young adult, he purchased kits and built amplifiers and other equipment to play his music. You could find him reading every day. He loved the outdoors especially hiking and camping. He camped with his family for some fifty plus years in Arches National Park and Grand Teton National Park. He loved playing games with his family such as flag football, basketball, catch, Bocce and Skipbo.
Brent was faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as Bishop of the Provo Bonneville Ward, BYU 68th Ward, and Branch President in the MTC, and as a high counselor in two BYU Stakes. He served with his wife in the Knoxville, TN. Mission spending all their time in the small mining town of Harlan, KY in the Appalachian Mountains. He then served a Church service mission including among other things proofreading the Joseph Smith Papers project. He served several years in the Provo Temple.
Brent was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Reid Lindstrom and David Lindstrom. He is survived by his wife Linnaea Harrison Lindstrom and children Leisha Black (Evan), Lynette Allsop (Jeff), Laurie Clegg (Robert), Ryan (Kristi), Jeffrey, Landon (Bethany), 19 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held May 30, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the Edgemont Sixth Ward chapel, 4000 N. 650 E., Provo, with a viewing Thursday night from 6-8 pm at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 N. Orem, and Friday, 9:30 to 10:30, prior to the funeral service at the church.
