Bonnie Smith (Harrell)

Bonnie L. Smith (Harrell), age 63, of Watauga, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at her home. Bonnie was born Glendale, California to the late Robert and Nancy Wilcox Harrell.

Bonnie was a homemaker, bookkeeper, active in a Women’s Bible Study for 20 years, and a member of Grace Fellowship Church. She loved to spend her time outdoors near water and hiking to beautiful mountain views. She enjoyed watercolor painting, kayaking, and escaping to the beach and her happy place! Above all, Bonnie loved her family and cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish Bonnie’s memory include her beloved husband of 45 years, John C. Smith of the home, two sons, Andrew (April) Smith of Bogota, Colombia and Matthew (Katherine) of Piney Flats; a daughter Casey Smith of Johnson City; six grandchildren, Breanna, Emery, Branston, Oliver, Evelyn, and Maverick; and two brothers, Ken Harrell of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and Keith Harrell of Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service to celebrate Bonnie’s life will be conducted on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Grace Fellowship Church with Lead Pastor Matt Murphy officiating. Gathering of Family & Friends will be from 2-4pm, with Service at 4pm and Fellowship following the service. Music will be under the direction of Grace Fellowship Church.
