Billy Hagan

Mr. Billy Gene Hagan, Jr., age 62, of Buncombe County, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, as the result of a tragic automobile accident.

Born on September 16, 1962, in Buncombe County, Billy was the son of the late Billy Gene Hagan, Sr. and Joyce E. Gillespie Chandler.

Billy was well known in the community for his sharp eye and love of discovery. Together with his life partner, Valerie, he owned and operated Second Chance for many years, where they built not only a business but also countless friendships. He especially enjoyed attending auctions, where his talent for spotting hidden treasures and striking a good deal always shone through.

Beyond his work and hobbies, Billy will be remembered for the joy he found in spending time with his friends, sharing laughter, and making memories that will last a lifetime.

Billy leaves behind, in addition to his life partner, Valerie Padgett, are his three children, Tamara Hagan of Asheville, Amanda Hagan Nissen (Alex) of Morganton, and Chris Hagan of Asheville; sister, Judy Babbitt of Hickory; brother Ricky Sharpe of Asheville; and two granddaughters.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
