Barbara Joan Brighter Woodring, passed away on August 12, 2025.
Born on November 25, 1941, Barbara lived a life marked by love, dedication, and an infectious enthusiasm for adventure.
She was born and raised in Bucks County, PA and graduated from St. Mark’s High School and Bucks County College. On January 23, 1960, she married the love of her life, Ronald “Smokey” Woodring, with whom she shared a beautiful journey until his passing on March 4, 2016. Together, they raised their 4 children in Levittown Pennsylvania before relocating to Dunedin Florida for what was meant to be an early retirement. However, Barbara’s boundless energy ensured she was anything but retired.
In Florida, Barbara launched her own business as an independent manufacturer’s representative in the food service industry, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and determination. Her commitment to her community was equally remarkable. An active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister and devoted herself to numerous local causes. Barbara was a passionate advocate for Dunedin, contributing to the Youth Guild, the restoration of Hammock Park and the creation of the Butterfly Garden, the Ladies Auxiliary of Post 275 of the American Legion, Columbites for Council 3170 Chapter of the Knights of Columbus, Elks Post 1525 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 4408.
Known for her love of dressing up and dancing and playing table shuffle board, Barbara brought light and laughter to every gathering. Her adventurous spirit shone through in her travels with her sister, sister-in-law, daughter, and granddaughters, creating cherished memories through countless shared experiences.
Barbara’s legacy is one of faith, service, and an unwavering zest for life. She leaves behind a community enriched by her presence and a family who will forever hold her in their hearts. Her memory will live on in the stories told, the dances shared, and the love she so generously gave.
Husband Ronald “Smokey” and Son Scott Henry Woodring Preceded her in Death She is survived by Daughter Kelly Ramsden, Sons Ronald “Smokey” (Kim) and Keith (Niki), and Granddaughters Allyssa and Angelina Woodring.
