Audrey Lee Ashby Frederick of Alexandria, Louisiana was born on September 20, 1931 to the late Apelonia and Liodes Ashby. Audrey was a devoted, caring wife and mother. On Saturday, January 11, 2025, she passed away peacefully after a short illness at Naomi Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Audrey was the oldest of four sisters born to the late Liodes “Buddy” and Apelonia Ashby of Alexandria, La.
At an early age, Audrey accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a long-time member of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Peabody High School. Audrey married James Frederick Sr. on August 24, 1951. To this union, two sons were born. Audrey served as a dutiful wife and mother. She also was a substitute teacher for several years for various schools in the city of Alexandria.
Audrey is preceded in death by her loving spouse (James Frederick Sr.); parents (Liodes and Apelonia Ashby), two sisters (Helen Marbs and Lena Wyatt); brother-in-law (Alton Wyatt); beloved aunts (Berniece “Pee Wee” Bradley, Beatrice Bradley and Josephine Smith); four loved uncles (Henry Bradley, Cephus Bradley, James Bradley, and “Uncle Snook”).
Audrey leaves to cherish her life and memories: her beloved sons, James Frederick Jr. (Marnice) and Claude Frederick (Linda Coutee) of Arlington, Texas; one grand-daughter, Ashley Frederick of Arlington, Texas; one grandson, Corrie Frederick of Tampa, Florida; one sister, Ella Ashby, of Alexandria, Louisiana and one brother-in-law, Charlie Marbs; two nieces, Charlene Marbs of Gilbert Arizona and Marilyn Jordan (Michael) of Crowley, Texas. She also leaves nephews, dear friends, and church members.
