Mrs. Anna Yvonne Day Fairchild, age 95, of Fleetwood, passed away Thursday night, October 9, 2025, at Glenbridge Health & Rehab in Boone.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Foster and Rev. Jimmy Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Gap Creek Cemetery in Deep Gap.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00–2:00 PM, one hour prior to the funeral service.

Mrs. Fairchild was born in Ashe County on November 9, 1929, to the late Clyde and Ella Mae Miller Day. When Yvonne was a young girl, she attended Finishing School in Virginia.

She was a devoted Sunday School teacher and enjoyed sharing her faith with others. Yvonne worked at Holly Farms, which later became Tyson Foods, for 25 years. She loved tending to her vegetable garden and flower garden, and she found great joy in quilting and crocheting, creating many handmade treasures for her family and friends. She was known never to do anything with half effort and was an excellent housekeeper, always taking pride in her home and surroundings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Thomas Fairchild on August 7, 2003; two brothers, Buddy Day and Quinton Day; and a son-in-law, Gary Cody.

She is survived by: a daughter: Linda Fairchild Day of Fleetwood; a son: David Fairchild (Judy) of Fleetwood; four grandchildren: Jason Fairchild (Tonya) of Fleetwood, Brian Fairchild (Amanda) of Georgia, Lisa Wilcox (Matt) of Hudson, and Anna Spencer (Travis) of Boone; seven great-grandchildren: Daniel Fairchild, Andrew Fairchild, Drew Wilcox, Abby Spencer, Connor Spencer, Wyatt Spencer, and Henry Spencer; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family requests no food, please.
