Al Grippo
Al Grippo, a man known for his unwavering loyalty, infectious humor, and profound love for his family, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, in Cape May, NJ. He was 82 years old.

Born on January 29, 1943, to his amazing immigrant parents, Salvatore and Felicia Grippo, Al grew up in Brooklyn, NY, in a home that shaped his kind and generous spirit. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Saint Francis College in Brooklyn before proudly serving his country in the National Guard.

Al dedicated 40 years of his career to Aon Consulting, where he retired as a Senior Vice President. He was celebrated in the industry for his exceptional ethics, unwavering loyalty, and unmatched results. However, his true passion lay in mentorship and client service. Al’s personal mission was to create a workplace where his team felt proud and supported, always prioritizing their success and well-being. He conducted numerous training sessions, spoke at industry events, and received many awards for his outstanding client leadership.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Al’s vibrant personality shone brightest in his personal life. He shared 59 years of devoted marriage with his beloved wife, Caroline Grippo, a love story as strong on their last day as it was when they first met. He was a loving and devoted father to his daughters, Donna Marie Salvo (married to Michael Salvo) and Carol-Ann Grippo (married to Gael Meheust). Al was “the most fun Grandpa a kid could ask for,” always ready to be silly, spoil them, and make them laugh. His grandchildren, Mikey Salvo, Nina Salvo, Caroline Lee, and Steven Lee, along with his entire family, were truly his crown jewel. He was an old-school gentleman with a strong character, yet always progressive in his ideas and open-minded to the world.

Al had a remarkable knack for making everyone feel like family. Whether it was initiating a surprise indoor snowball fight (much to Caroline’s playful disapproval) or expertly switching cereal boxes to elicit laughter, he was the undisputed life of every party. He coined the best nicknames for his favorite people and made lifelong friends everywhere he went, especially at his beloved beach bar in Hilton Head Island, near the family vacation home. As his friends would attest, “To know him is to love him; he is just one hell of a guy.” There wasn’t anything Al wouldn’t do for people, demonstrating a generosity of spirit that touched countless lives.

Al is survived by his cherished wife, Caroline Grippo; his devoted daughters, Donna Marie Salvo and Carol-Ann Grippo; his adored grandchildren, Mikey Salvo, Nina Salvo, Caroline Lee, and Steven Lee; his sister, Mary Ann Grippo; and his beloved nephews, Michael Grippo and Vincent Grippo. He was preceded in death by his brother, Vincent Dominick Grippo.
