By Ronni Hannaman — On behalf of the Carson City Chamber and in honor of March as Women’s History Month, it gives me great pleasure to once again acknowledge the talent and commitment of Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company (WNMTC) founder Stephanie Arrigotti as she continues to provide exceptional musical theater to showcase the incredible talented regional actors who make her productions so magical.
Stephanie Arrigotti just celebrated 35 years of producing 114 amazing musical theater productions, many rivaling and even exceeding the off-Broadway productions one can enjoy at the Pioneer Center in Reno, but at a fraction of the price and in a more intimate setting. She is such a force behind the scenes creating each set design, costumes and prop management, leaving no stone unturned. She is a one-woman marketing force creating programs, overseeing the website, sending out the publicity, and overseeing the ticketing.
The professionally executed sets capture the essence of the play, and the professional live orchestra adds to the quality of the overall production. Many of her production staff and directors have been with her since almost the beginning. She has a knack for finding the right talent for the right show. As an actor and singer, she has starred in several of her own productions.
Arrigotti was hired by WNC to start the music program in 1977 and inaugurated the theater company in 1990. Still today, she is the only full-time performing arts professor. She has earned many awards and recognitions throughout her tenure including being honored in 2019 by Musical America as one of the Top 30 Professionals in America in the performing arts.
The Chamber board deservedly selected Arrigotti as one of their 2023 Women of Distinction. As we celebrate Women’s History Month 2025, we wish to acknowledge the continued fine work she has done over these many years and will continue to do in the future. The amazingly talented Stephanie Arrigotti continues to make history and create a difference in our arts community.
Her recent production to “Celebrate the Magic,” showcasing some of the most magical performances she has produced over the years, was a smash hit the weekend of Feb. 21.
