Mary Theresa Drake

Mary Theresa (Fearon) Drake, 90, of Springfield, died at 5:51 pm, Friday, December 11, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born on December 18, 1929, in Cleveland, OH to Thomas and Mary (Driscoll) Fearon. She married Dr. Fenton G. Drake on August 30, 1952 and he preceded her in death in 1990.

She is survived by four daughters, Mary Ann (Celeste Chappuis) Drake and Mary Therese Burley, both of St. Louis, MO, Maureen Cecelia (Robert) Cavanagh and Patricia Marie Drake, both of Springfield; four sons, James William (Jane) Drake of Milwaukee, WI, Michael Joseph (Barbara) Drake, Timothy Gerard (Maria) Drake and Hugh Fenton (Susan) Drake, all of Springfield; grandchildren, John and Tony Martin, Daniel (Colleen) and Patrick Burley, Brendan, Helen (Marisol), Brigid and Kevin Cavanagh, Katherine, Molly and John Drake, Clare Dudoit, Thomas Drake and William and Julia Drake and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Thomas John Drake.

Mary Theresa was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. She belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society, St. Joseph’s Home Coterie and St. John’s Samaritans. She was a Eucharistic Minister at Blessed Sacrament Church and St. John’s Hospital.

She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Cleveland, OH; St. Vincent Charity Hospital School of Nursing in Cleveland, OH and St. Louis University School of Nursing in St. Louis.

Private family services will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church on Friday, December 18, 2020, but may be viewed at bsps.org. Private burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Martin Deporres Center.
