Samuel Shook, II

Samuel L. Shook, II, 92, of New Philadelphia died peacefully at his home on December 13, 2020.

Born in Zanesville on February 5, 1928, he was the son of the late Samuel Lloyd and Jennie Odie (Burrows) Shook.

On May 6, 1953, he married his wife of 67 years, Zelma Lou (Blackwell) Shook. He honorably served his country in the United States Army.

He worked for 17 years as department manager for Montgomery Ward,  a produce manager with Beabers IGA for 18 years and then with Shook Auto more than 30 years, before his retirement.

Sam was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He will be deeply missed by his children, Randall (Diane) Shook, Pamela (Paul) Wallace and Benjamin (Jody) Shook, all of New Philadelphia and Jennie (Gill) Msangi of Canton, and Samuel (Jacki) Shook, III, of New Philadelphia; 13 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing by his 8 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 grandson.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020, from 1 to 2 p.m. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 2:30 p.m. in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia where the New Philadelphia VFW will render military honors.
