Donald W. Peek, Jr.

Donald W. Peek, Jr., 55, died March 4, 2021, at home. He was born in Springfield on August 16, 1965 to Donald W. and Angelene “Berniece” Peek, Sr., and they survive. He married Tracey Robinson in 1989. They remained friends after divorcing in 1996.

He is survived by two children, Sasha (James) Backstein of Riverton, Albert (Shelby) Peek of Mechanicsburg, seven grandchildren: Hunter, Annabell, Joleen, Gracie, Audrey, Hazzel and Gabriel, three sisters: Cheryl (Stan) White of Coffeen, Brenda (Les) Wanless of Loami and Belinda Szerletich of Springfield, three brothers: Daryl (Traci) Peek of Loami, Ronnie Peek of Springfield, Randy Peek of New Berlin; his lifelong friend Brian Tomlin, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by grandson, Lucas Backstein, brother-in-law Pat Szerletich and sister-in-law, Renee Peek.

He worked in construction at C & M Concrete and R.L. Moreland for 20 years. He was a member of Loami Christian Church. He loved telling stories of his fun/wild times with his friends. He loved 80’s rock, and most importantly, he loved being a grandpa. His favorite name was Papa Peek.

Visitation: 4 – 7 PM, Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Private funeral services will be held.

Memorial Contributions may be made to American Lung Association.
