Carol A. Johnson, 79, of Springfield, IL died at 3:15 pm, Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Concordia Lutheran Village. She was born December 25, 1943 in Kane, PA, to Nick and Eva Mae (Carlson) Novosel. She married Jerry Lee Johnson on June 22, 1978 and he survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mya (Dan) Burns of Aurora, CO and Cynthia (Jeff) Dutton of Highlands Ranch, CO; three step-children, Sara (Howard) Neuger of Chatham, IL, Karin Grisdale of Fulshear, TX, and Kent (Paula) Johnson of Amherst, NH; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Louise (John) Schluckebier of Monticello, IN; one brother, John (Carol) Novosel of Hazel Township, PA, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Donald Novosel.
Carol grew up in Kane, PA and was a graduate of Kane High School, Class of 1961. She received her bachelor’s degree from Rockford College and worked in the Banking industry for many years until her retirement.
The family will be hosting a memorial gathering from 12 pm – 1 pm, Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Concordia Lutheran Village Chapel with a memorial service to be held at 1 pm with Chaplain Jeff Harter to officiate. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date.
