Mrs. Phyllis Ann Benson Dollar

Mrs. Phyllis Ann Benson Dollar

Phyllis Ann Benson Dollar was born August 5, 1946 and passed away January 29, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Service: Her service will be a family-only gathering at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, do something Mama D would be proud of.  Cook a neighbor or friend a fabulous meal or show another family or friend hospitality by inviting them into your home.  Love people, encourage people and be generous with your love, forgiveness and worldly possessions.  She sure did all of those things.

Phyllis, or “Mama D” as her grandkids called her, leaves one heck of a legacy, one that is full of life, joy, laughter and an unapologetic passion for the Lord.   It’s impossible to accurately depict such a larger-than-life person but when asked, people immediately remember the way she made them feel as well as her excellent home cooking.  She loved to feed people and that usually included some amazing meals cooked from scratch.  She loved her home, and especially, her kitchen.  She would cook with love…  rarely following recipes or instructions, her food never failed to be delicious.  She was always excited to serve it and bring a smile to those she welcomed into her home.

She was room-mother, team-mother, and chauffer to her kids and all of their friends.  She never missed a game and was “that mom” who wore pictures of her kids all over her clothing. She would brag about them to anyone willing to listen (and maybe a few who weren’t).

She had the gift of gab and regardless if you were a stranger, that didn’t matter because you wouldn’t be for long.  She loved listening to people’s stories and never forgot a name or a face.  There were many times she would see someone in town and would remember them from years ago. She would remember their spouses, kids, what church they went to, etc… just because she truly cared and loved people.

Survivors: She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jim Dollar; her son, Derrick Dollar and daughter-in-law, Georgeanne Dollar, and their two sons, Austin and Benson Dollar; her daughter, Tia Kattau and son-in-Law, Jonathan Kattau, and their two children, Caden and Sophie Rose Kattau.

She will be so very missed.

Matthew 5:16 – Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
