Wade Rider, 97, of McComb, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Heritage Estates, Findlay.
Wade was born in Wood County, Ohio on December 29, 1927 to the late Harry and Mildred (Anderson) Rider. He married M. Jeanne Fisher on October 27, 1951 and she preceded him in death on September 17, 2025. Wade is survived by his children, Debra (Terry) Lovell and Dennis (Dianne) Rider both of McComb and Donna Kane of Rossford; grandchildren, Aaron (Abby) Schroll, Jared (Rachel) Schroll, Lori Welly, Corey (Katie) Rider, Monica (Scott) Stein and Brady Kane (Anna); seven great-grandchildren and a “Hired man-adopted son” Robert “Butch” (Kathy) Humphrey, Van Buren. He was preceded in death by his sister Jeannette Bibler.
Wade was a 1945 graduate of McComb High School. After high school, Wade enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country until being honorably discharged in 1947. He was a member of the Portage Chapel Church and Morrison-Moorhead VFW # 9231, both of McComb, and a former member of the Elks #75 in Findlay. As a proud farmer, he was devoted to working his farmland, and he also enjoyed trimming trees and operating his crane service. He was thoughtful, had a great sense of humor, and loved playing pool at the VFW. More than anything, family was the most important part of Wade’s life, and he cherished every moment he spent with them.
Private graveside service will be for Wade and Jeanne at Pleasant Hill Cemetery on what would have been their 74th Wedding Anniversary.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Stombaugh-Batton & Snyder Funeral Home, Carey.
The family would like to thank Heritage Estates and Bridge Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Wade.
Memorial contributions may be made in Wade’s honor to Bridge Hospice, 15100 Birchaven Ln., Findlay, Ohio 45840 or Morrison-Moorhead VFW #9231, P.O Box 219, McComb, Ohio 45858.
