William Elmer Gilbert

William Elmer (Spooky) Gilbert, age 80, of Murfreesboro, passed away on July 26, 2022 at the Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.

He was born on October 2, 1941 to Alvin and Frances (Bonney) Gilbert in Virginia Beach, VA. William worked as a Heavy Equipment Superintendent for the City of VA Beach.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin O Gilbert; his mother, Frances Mae Gilbert; and two sisters, Betty Ann Harrell and Frances Gilbert Willis.

William is survived by his wife, Janet; three sons, Kenneth Gilbert of Virginia Beach, VA, William Gilbert of Virginia Beach, VA, and Gregory Fredrick of Burlington, KY; a daughter, Kimberly Hines of Wake Forest; four grandsons, Ashton Lande, Evan Gilbert, Jonas Gilbert, and Logan Hines; and a granddaughter, Rachel Gilbert.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
