William “Bill” Frank Duffy

William “Bill” Frank Duffy, 81, of Springfield, died on Sunday, June 13, 2021, at his home. He was born September 7, 1939, in Springfield, to Thomas and Lena Pearson Duffy. He married Bonnie J. Otti on August 23, 1959, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Shannon (Tony) Gates of Greenview and Brenna (Craig) Jeffers of Springfield; one son, Sean Duffy of Illiopolis; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sandy (Gary) Cody of Springfield, Mary Lou (Doug) Roberts of Springfield, and Evelyn Prior of North Carolina; three brothers, Jim Duffy of Springfield, LeRoy (June) Duffy of Chatham, and Donnie (Julie) Duffy of Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John Duffy; two sisters, Pat Schnapp and Bonnie Schlich; one daughter-in-law, Judy Duffy; and two grand babies.
He was self-employed and the owner of Duffy Inc. Sewer Service, along with his brother, John. He enjoyed the family business, working there with his dad since he was 14.
Bill was a member of Operating Engineers and loved participating and sponsoring ARCA Racing. He wasn’t a religious man, but lived by the Golden Rule. Sometimes he would not charge a customer who was in need. He was the typical Irishman, a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Visitation: 9 – 11 am, Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Caitlin Magnuson officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to Shriner Children’s Hospital.
CDC protocol shall be followed.
