William “Bill” Eugene Dougherty, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday May 27, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospice Center of Cedar Rapids. Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Teahen Funeral Home by Brian Reeves. Burial: Czech National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home.

Bill is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Betty; his daughters, Brenda (Dennis) Harrington and Kelly (Randy) Schmidt, both of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Whitted of Polk City and Jessica Harrington (Corey Weigand), Daniel (Kayla) Schmidt and Bradley (Kaylee) Schmidt, all of Cedar Rapids; great-grandchildren, Katelynn and Meredith Whitted: and his dear, Scottie, Baxter.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Kilts; and brother, Richard Dougherty.

Bill was born on Aug. 19, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, son of Charles and Dorothy (Cozart) Dougherty. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and served in the U.S. Navy Reserves. Bill was the owner of Brads Marine until 1979, Barron Motors as a salesman for many years. After retirement he spent his spare time at Wendy’s on Blairs Ferry Road greeting all at the drive through window where he made many friends.

Bill loved working at his marina. He also liked gardening and working around his pond. Bill also enjoyed the Friday night races. Most of all, Bill loved his grandkids and great-grandkids and having family time. He will be missed by his friends and family.
