William “Bill” Brookshire

William “Bill” Brookshire, age 80, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on the night of Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, following a brief illness.  A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, Bill was the son of the late Otto and Clara Crowe Collins and was born on February 12, 1941.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Genevieve “Jenny” Wilson Brookshire.  Following her passing, March 24, 2017, Bill missed her each and every day.

A veteran of the United States Navy, Bill retired in 1996 following more the 25 years of service as a clerk with the United States Postal Service.  Prior to his health declining, you could catch him eating breakfast almost every morning at Orr’s Restaurant in East Flat Rock.  Although Bill loved his ice cream and chocolate cake, he truly loved spending quality time with his family and making precious memories with them.

He is survived by three children, Diane Sain (Johnny), Wayne Brookshire (Katrina) and Becky Boone (Tommy); four grandchildren, Ross Sain (Erin), Tyler Sain (Marcyline), Regan Morgan (A..J) and Rylie Brookshire; three great-grandchildren, Silas Sain, Maddux Sain and Evan Sain; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Pastor Tyler Sain officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy.
