Wayne Merrill

Wayne Merrill, 87 of Hendersonville, died Sunday, February 6, 2022.

A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, he was the son of the late John Vunion Merrill and Ruby Justus Merrill Smith.  Wayne is also preceded in death by five brothers, John Merrill, Dupree Merrill, Aubrey Merrill, Douglas Merrill, and Larry Merrill; and three sisters, Madge Gibbs, Leatrice Fisher, and Geraldine Justus.

He served in the US Army and retired in 1997 from Blue Ridge Community College as a chairperson and auto body instructor.

Wayne is survived by two daughters, Rene` Perryman and husband Kevin of Candler and Teresa Compton and husband Glenn of Hendersonville; four grandchildren, Luke Perryman, Joshua Perryman, Calvin Compton and wife Caitlin, and Carlin Compton; a great-grandson, Myles Calvin Compton; two sisters, Claudette Downs and Rosalind Chumley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at a later date.
