Wayne Edward Heuchelin, 90, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home of natural causes. He was born on Nov. 27,1932, in Dubuque, the son of Albert and Gertrude (Wiedemeyer) Heuchelin. Wayne was raised and educated in Dubuque and Greeley and graduated from Greeley High School in 1951. Following graduation, Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served honorably in the Korean War. He then attended business classes at Michigan State and worked at the Greeley Milling Company with his father and brother.

On July 3, 1960, Wayne was united in marriage to Colleen McIntyre at the Strawberry Point Methodist Church. They resided in Greeley where four children were born to this union. They began farming in 1963 and together managed Coll-Way Farms. In 1976 they moved to Edgewood.

Wayne was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Edgewood. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and gardening. After their retirement, Wayne and Colleen spent their winters in Mercedes, Texas.

Left to cherish his memory are his four children, Scott (Heather Kearney) Heuchelin of Kelley, Julia (Kevin) McQuillen and Marc (Candice) Heuchelin, both of Edgewood, and Paul (Kathy Jo Wenndt) Heuchelin of Delaware; eight grandchildren, Kyle Geisler, Keenan (Lindsay Fisher) McQuillen, Rose Heuchelin, James McIntyre, Raymond Murphy Jr., Michael Heuchelin, Tiffany Carter and Edward John (Tristen) Heuchelin; seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Bruce (Joann) Heuchelin; sisters-in-law, Lois Bockenstedt, Mary Jane Kray and Agnes McIntyre; and several nieces and nephews.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen, in January of 2019; his parents, Albert and Gertrude Heuchelin; Colleen’s parents, Morris and Mary McIntyre; brothers-in-law, Elmer Bruns, Robert Mcintyre, Vernon Baumgartner, Leo Bockenstedt, Arnold Kray and David Kabir; and sister-in-law, Katarina McIntyre.
