Walter Henry Brogan
- January 29, 2022
Walter Henry Brogan, 67, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Crestwood Care Center. He was born in the small town of Bellburn, West Virginia on June 30, 1954 to the late Bernie and Alice (Moore) Brogan and moved to Mansfield as a young boy.
Walter was a caring, loving and generous man. Having a joyful heart, he loved to joke around with others; nothing made his day more than making others laugh and bringing a smile to their face. Walter enjoyed spending time with his family and cherished the many memories they shared. A lover of people, he connected with them in such a way that made him easy to talk to; he never knew a stranger. He was also known as someone who was very particular in his ways and was always neat and organized. Growing up, Walter was always at home in the kitchen cooking. He later grew up to be a skilled Chef and worked over 30 years at Mazza Restaurant in Mount Vernon. He also had the opportunity to cook for some famous people throughout the years. Walter enjoyed playing the lottery.
He is survived by his daughters, Vanessa (Darnell) Barnett and Patricia (Melvin Burns) Brady; the mother of his daughters, Frances Brady Swinning; brothers, Bernie E. Brogan, Danny Brogan and Patrick Brogan; sisters, Patricia (Charles) Murphy, Judy (Richard) Duncan, Brenda (Raymond) Walker, Sheri Brogan and Sharon Stewart; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mabel Williams.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, Ohio 44902. A service will follow at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest in Oak Grove Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Stroke Association.
