Walter Clenton Dudley was born on Juneteenth, June 19,1902, in Greensboro, AL TO Alice Gertrude and Tommie Dudley. He departed this life Sunday, January 23, 2022, Joining his beloved wife Lola of 67 years and his mother “Gert” Rhodes, in Glory. He was raised an only child, he was educated in Greensboro and at Central High School in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduation he enlisted in the Army as a Medical Technician in January 1944 and served in the World War II with the 701st Medical unit operating in the European Theatre.

Walter Dudley began working for the Veteran’s Administration as an Orthotist in the Prosthetic lab following, he was Honorably Discharged in, 1946. He loved his work and his patients loved him. His Masterful Prosthetic hand work led to his many awards and promotion over his 50+ year career at both the Wade Park and Brecksville VA Facilities. Along the way, His stint at the Cooper School of Art in Cleveland Honored his Artistic skills of painting, crafting, and upholstering. Walter married in 1955 to Lola Counts, the couple eventually settled in Shaker. This is where they resided for the remainder of their lives.

Walter Dudley was a charter member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, for 1962 until his Passing. He served as Chairman of the Trustee Board and Boy scout Master. Whose Mentees included Deacon’s Wilburn, Glass and Fred Owens. He was a soft spoken and shunning the spotlight, his powerful influence at Fellowship was expressed by deed rather than talk.

Walter Dudley was a cultured man who enjoyed classical music, multi-media art and fashioning his own art works. He leaves behind 3 children: Leon Dudley, Sandra Diggs, and David Dudley. Grandchildren; Angelina Hamilton (Charles), Kevin Dudley, Isaac Diggs (Ariyike), Zachary Diggs (Paul), Michael Dudley and Marquise Dudley; Great Grandchildren Lauren and Olivia Hamilton, Caleb Diggs, and Josia (Jo Jo) Dudley, along with a host of Cousins and Friends.
