Virginia M. Burnett

Virginia M. Burnett, age 89, of DeKalb, IL passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb, IL. She was born on June 20, 1931 in Sycamore, IL the daughter of Ronald and Mary Irene (French) Jackson.

Virginia was united in marriage on June 25, 1949 in Sycamore, IL to Lowell Burnett and they spent the next 57 years happily together until his passing on April 1, 2007. Mrs. Burnett was a longtime member of the Hinckley First United Methodist Church in Hinckley, IL. She was a devoted farm wife, working alongside her husband, Lowell, on the family farm in Hinckley. Virginia was more currently a property manager in the real estate industry. She was for many years a member of the Hinckley Junior Women’s Club and the DeKalb County Farm Bureau. Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and partner who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Gene (Pam) Burnett of Pontiac, IL; her daughter-in-law, Christine Burnett of Hinckley, IL; her granddaughters, Brenna (Andy) Hildenbrand of Thawville, IL and Shannon (Nate) Fatland of Hinckley, IL; her great-grandchildren, Kinze Fatland, Emmaline Hildenbrand, Hollyn Fatland, Eleanora Hildenbrand, Lane Hildenbrand, and Natalie Fatland; her sisters, Arlene (Mel) Dorland of Sycamore, IL, Nancy (Gene) Miller of Sycamore, IL, and Helen Meadowcraft of DeKalb, IL; several nieces and nephews; her loving partner, Donald Swanson of DeKalb, IL; as well as her dog, Buddy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Mary Irene Jackson; her husband, Lowell Burnett; her son, Jim Burnett; her brother, Ronald “Red” Jackson; and a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 28, 2021 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 N. Maple St., Hinckley, IL with Pastor Lance Gackowski officiating. Interment will follow in the Miller Cemetery in Hinckley, IL.

Friends may visit from 9:00 AM until the Hour of Service on Friday, May 28, 2021 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel in Hinckley, IL.
