Victor J. Fantin

Victor J. Fantin, 90, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully Monday, July 11, 2022 in Cleveland Clinic-Union Hospital at Dover following a brief illness.
Born in Roswell, he was the son of the late John F. and Emma Louise (Visintainer) Fantin and was a 1951 graduate of the former Midvale High School at Midvale. Following his graduation, Victor joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, Victor started working for the former Gradall Company at New Philadelphia where he worked as a machinist and also a welder. He retired after 39 years of employment.
Victor was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia and an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting and was also a former member of the Tuscarawas County Coon Hunters Club.
On May 25, 1957, Victor married the love of his life, Mary “Louise” (Patrick) Fantin, and together celebrated 56 years of marriage before her passing in 2013. Surviving are his daughter, Annitta (Jerry) Flinn; his son, Vincent (Andrea) Fantin; his granddaughters, LeeAnn McMillan and her fiancé, Duane Hellier, Hannah Fantin and Hayley Fantin; his great-grandson, Parker McMillan; his sister, Norma Fantin and his brothers, Daniel (Sharon Stutler) Fantin, and Louis (Ruth) Fantin; his sister-in-law, Shelby Fantin and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Victor was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Patrick and his brothers Frank Fantin, Jack Fantine and John Fantin.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Monday, July 18, 2022 from 10 to 11 AM and a service celebrating Victor’s life will begin at 11 AM in the funeral home’s chapel with Father Jeff Coning and Pastor John Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in New Cumberland Cemetery where the New Philadelphia VFW will conduct military honors.
