Vernon L. Hamilton

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, Vernon L. Hamilton, 89, of Mansfield, who passed away on November 27, 2021. He was born June 5, 1932 in Morehead, KY to Ed and Bertie Hamilton. He moved to Mansfield at the age of 19, where he met our Mom, Nancy Bunn; they were married 49 years.
Vernon served in the National Guard from 1958 to 1961. He was employed with Hartman Electric Rupp Industries. He started and operated his own business, Hamilton Building and Remodeling, for 30 years. Our Dad loved planting flowers; petunias were his favorite. He enjoyed playing softball, bowling, golfing, fishing. His passion was dancing at Bluegrass festivals; he was known as the “Dancing Machine”.
Vernon is survived by his daughters, Becky (Mike) Maloney of Naples, FL, Teresa (John) Bodenbach of DeLand, FL; his sister, Wanda (Chester) Nichols of Lexington, OH; sister-in-law, Aretta Hamilton; close friend and companion, Phyllis Adams; 7 grandkids; 12 great-grandkids; 3 great-great-grandkids with one due in May; as well as an abundance of nieces and nephews.
Vernon is preceded by his parents, Ed and Bertie Hamilton; wife, Nancy Bunn; daughter, Bonnie Hamilton Butler; son, Robert Wayne Hamilton; brothers, Arthur, Jimmy, Billy, and Bobby; sisters, Reba, Katleen, Evelyn, and Virginia (Genny). Our dad loved his family; we will cherish all our memories of him. We will see you again in Heaven! We love and miss you.
Friends and family are invited to a showing on Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield, OH 44902. A graveside service will immediately follow at Mansfield Cemetery, 389 Altamont Avenue, Mansfield, OH 44902.
