Tyrone W. Brown Sr.

Tyrone W. Brown, Sr. was born Tyrone Wellington Smith to late Garnetha Edge Smith and Hammond Smith on July 26, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio. After divorce, Garnetha Edge married Louis Brown, Sr. Tyrone’s name was changed from Smith to Brown. He was educated in the Cleveland City School District graduating from John Adams High School in 1971. Tyrone was very industrious and began working at a local gas station while attending high school and college. Tyrone soon began a long career as a truck driver working for Bonnie’s Speed Delivery and later for Rite Kwik Delivery. In 1979 Tyrone formed Eastside Movers and Riggers from which he employed many family members from time to time.
Tyrone was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in the early 1990’s but he refused to let it slow him down. He continued to drive his truck until he no longer felt comfortable. But he began to drive for Yellow Cab until 2007. However, he never stopped going. He continued to visit with family and friends via bus and his wheelchair.
Tyrone is the oldest of four children born to Garnetha, having three brothers Louis Jr, Timothy Sr. and Gregory and from his natural father, Hammond two other siblings Ronald Lane and April Holland. Tyrone married Vera Mae Stennis and to this union four children were born: Tyrone Jr., Victor, Steven, and Caprise Thomas.
Tyrone is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Garnetha Brown; his natural father, Hammond Smith, his adoptive father, Louis Brown, Sr.; one brother Louis Brown, Jr. and one son Victor Brown.
Tyrone maintained strong relationships with members of all sides of his family and many long-term friends. You can hear stories of “Tyrone did this… or Tyrone said that…” He enjoyed music such artist as Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind and Fire, The Jackson 5 and The Isley Brothers to name a few. He possessed an infectious laugh and could have you cracking up with story or just a quick one liner.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Vera Mae; two sons, Tyrone Jr. (Michelle), Steven, and his daughter Caprise Thomas (Ryan) three brothers Timothy Sr. (Delcenia), Gregory, Ronald Lane and one sister April Holland. six grandchildren Briana, Brittany, Deandrea Thomas, Kimberly Thomas, Antonio Thomas and Zubayer Thomas, three Great Grandchildren, along with many relatives, and friends.
