Thomas Hitchens

Thomas LeGrande Hitchens 71 passed away peacefully at his Williamsburg home at the Ponderosa on February 3rd, 2022 with family by his side. Tom grew up in Williamsburg and graduated from James Blair High School in 1968. In the early 80’s Tom started Hitchens Backhoe Construction Company. He went to work for Anheuser-Busch in the late 80’s and worked there for 35 years before retiring. His passion was saving James City County’s rural land and wetlands. Tom loved his land and home on Gordon’s Creek. He never wanted to go on vacation, he said that home is the best place to be and it was his vacation.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Mickey & Grace Hitchens. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Vicky Hitchens. Son David Hitchens and wife Stacie. Daughter LeAnn Hart and husband Paul. He loved being called Pop’s by his granddaughter Piper Rose Hitchens. Also he is survived by his sister Marty Holland and brother Buck Hitchens.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 8th, 2022 at 11:00 at Bucktrout of Williamsburg Funeral Home with Chuck Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the Williamsburg Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4-6 Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice House Williamsburg.
