Karen M. Shea

Karen M. Shea, 59, of Springfield, died at 7:21 am, Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born January 30, 1962 in Springfield, IL, to Eugene and LaVerne (Lindsey) Harvey. She married Stephen C. Shea on August 8, 1987 and he survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Jonathan Charles and Andrew Timothy Shea, both of Springfield; mother, LaVerne Harvey of Springfield; two sisters, Kathleen (Warren) Lutz of Colorado Springs, CO and Lisa Harvey of Springfield; two brothers, David (Janice) Harvey of Peoria Heights and Timothy (Polly) Harvey of Springfield; sister-in-law, Jana Harvey of Springfield and several aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Edward Harvey.

Karen was a member of St. Agnes Church. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and was employed by St John’s Hospital and SIU School of Medicine for many years. She was involved with the Animal Protective League and was an animal lover, especially dogs.

Private family services will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
