Thomas F. “Tom” McMillen, 77, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Silver Oaks Nursing Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

Tom was born on September 26, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Thomas F., Sr. and Doris Evelyn (Loy) McMillen. He was a 1964 graduate of Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids and was active in theater and music. He went on to attend Mount Mercy College. Tom served honorably in the United States Army from 1964 until 1967. While serving in Germany he became a member of the 7th Army Chorus and traveled around Europe performing. On November 20, 2004, Tom was united in marriage to Glenda Rae Grose at Salem United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. He worked as a Machinist for Reliable Machine and Kwikway. Tom was active in Cedar Rapids Follies, Barbershop quartets, and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. Tom will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Tom is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Glenda McMillen of Cedar Rapids; former wife, Connie McMillen of Cedar Rapids; children, Julie (Blaine) Smith of Cedar Rapids, David McMillen of Denver, Colorado, and Jeff McMillen of Arkansas; brothers, John (Patty) McMillen of Cedar Rapids, and Scott (Cindy) McMillen of Marion; and sister, Cindy (Don) Potter of Anamosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Terri Lynn McMillen.

Memorials in Tom’s memory may be directed to the family to be distributed to several charities that were important to Tom.
