Thomas Allen Gum

Thomas Allen Gum, 85 of Springfield, died at 9:02 am, Monday, July 18, 2022 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. He was born August 2, 1936 in Tallula, to Allen Elwood Gum and Hazel Dell Chilton Gum. He married Betty Jean Hamrick on March 20, 1959 and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Rebecca J Gum of Gurnee and Angela K. Gum of Springfield: one brother, Ken Gum of Tallula and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Anna Smith and Elsie Loeffler.

Thomas was a member of First Church of God. He was a computer programmer, retiring from the State of Illinois after thirty years of service. He was a member of the Illinois National Guard.

Visitation: 5 – 7 pm, Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 10:00 am Friday, July 22, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Jay Kroft officiating, burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Central Illinois Food Bank.
