Sally was born in Brandon, Ohio, on June 14, 1924. She was a 1941 graduate of Madison Comprehensive High School, and went on to graduate as Valedictorian in her 50’s from the nursing program at North Central Technical College. Sally was a member of Cornerstone Grace Brethren Church. In her earlier years, she tried her hand at baking and made delicious cakes. She was an avid reader, building a collection of over fifteen hundred books in her library. She enjoyed needle work and embroidery.

She leaves behind her daughter, Ruth Hatfield; her son, Daniel (Sandra) Nelson; her grandchildren, Wendy (Carey Matsumoto) Knapp and Keith (Veronica) Knapp; her great-grandchildren, Madeline Kochheiser, Ayvette, Alivia, Aven, and Alaric Knapp; her brother, Clifford (Karen) Roop; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Etsil Daniel “Ed” Nelson; her father, Michael Roop; her mother and step-father, Ada Pearl (Lester) Marietta; and her brothers, James, Richard, Arthur, Herman; and her infant sister, Pauline.
