Thelma Lucille Miller Egler Johnson

Thelma Lucille Miller Egler Johnson, 94, of Dover, formerly of New Philadelphia passed away March 4, 2022 in New Dawn Nursing Home following a period of declining health.

Born in Ragersville on September 20, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Edward L. and Zada (Everhart) Miller.

After graduating from Stone Creek High School in 1945, she worked as an educational aid with the New Philadelphia Public Schools.

She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in New Philadelphia, where she was involved in many aspects of the church.

Lucy was a member of the New Philadelphia Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #222, where she served in many local and state leadership roles within the organization.

Lucy is survived by her sons, Dennis (Rebecca) Egler of Baltic and David (Brenda) Egler of Port Washington; granddaughter, Nicole (fiancé, Russen Beegle) Egler; and siblings, Marlene (Carl) Byrd and Richard (Sharelle) Miller; and brother-in-law, Lowell Blacka; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her first husband, Wayne “Bob” Egler in 1995; her second husband, Jack Johnson; and siblings, Orlan Miller, Marilyn Blacka.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Wednesday, March 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. A service will be held Thursday, March 10 beginning at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Jerusalem Cemetery.
