Teresa L. Davis
- May 19, 2021
Teresa L. Davis, 53, of Mills River went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 17, 2021 at Advent Health following an extended illness. She was raised in Jackson County and was the daughter of Hansen Smith and the late Martha Adams Smith. Teresa was a graduate of Western Carolina University and had resided in Henderson County for the past 30 years.
She was employed as an English teacher with Henderson County Public Schools at West Henderson High School and was a member of Mills River United Methodist Church. Teresa loved teaching and in turn loved her students. She was a cheerleading coach for the first 10 years of her teaching career, and then has been the prom director for the past 20 years. She was an animal lover and enjoyed spending time with her dog or getting caught up in a good book. Teresa was a beloved teacher and a wonderful mother to two amazing sons.
She is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Jonathan Davis; sons, J. Ross Davis, and Steven Henry Davis IV; father, Hansen Smith; sister, Julie Smith and her husband, Ted; brother, Steve Smith; nephew, Matthew Smith and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 22, 2021 in the auditorium of West Henderson High School with Pastor Kemuel Pruitt officiating.
Because of her love for teaching, and the love she had for her students, the family wishes that memorial contributions be made to a cause that was close Teresa’s heart, which was the ability of her students to be able to further their education beyond high school.
