Susan Lynn “Sue Sue” Kizzie, 69, of Hendersonville, passed away Monday, September 27, 2021, at her home.
Born in Doctors Hospital in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Phillip Isaac and Willie Harrell Ryther. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Gary Steven Ryther.
Mrs. Kizzie graduated from Langley High School in McLean, VA, Ohio Wesleyan University, and the University of Wyoming. Before settling in Hendersonville, she had lived in Alexandria, VA, Federal Way, WA, Warren Robins, GA, and Jackson, GA.
Her years of employment included positions with the US Civil Service; National Labor Relations Board, Accounting and Finance; US Air Force; and the Social Security Administration. Mrs. Kizzie also served her many communities. She founded the Amberlin Animal Sanctuary, a private sanctuary in Jackson, GA, and donated to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah, the Animal Defense League, and to many other charities. Mrs. Kizzie loved traveling, going on many trips during her lifetime. Her dream trip became a reality in 2009 when she traveled to Alaska.
Mrs. Kizzie is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Alvester L. Kizzie, of Hendersonville; her sister, Carolyn Joan Liss, and husband, Burton, of Arlington, VA; nieces, Tara Noel Johnson and husband, Lance Johnson, of Golden Beach, MD and Hope Noel Johnson; and her nephew, Max Burton Johnson.
A private family service will be held in Virginia.
