Steve “Pusky” Wilcox, 76, died Wednesday evening, April 10, 2024, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 Monday morning, April 15, 2024, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello where visitation will be held from 2 until 5 on Sunday. Pastor Holly Knouse will officiate at the services. Thoughts, memories and condolences may be left at www.goettschonline.com.

Surviving is his wife Darlene, 3 children, Jenny (Gary) Steuri, Randy (Katie) Wilcox, Scott (Caty) Wilcox, grandchildren, Austin, Jordan, Naryah and Gemma, his in-laws, Bud Coyle, L.J. Takes, Jean Takes, Joan(Dan) Manternach, Mary Kay (Ron) Ackerman, Carolyn (Jerry) Manternach, Sally (Jeff) Sawyer,

Tom(Mary)Takes, Alice Brighton, Al (Liz) Takes, Carl (Jan) Takes, Charlie Takes, Robby Takes, Billy (Vickie) Takes. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Roberta Coyle, Robert (Sophia) Wilcox and Marleen Herrington.

Steven Douglas Wilcox was born March 31, 1948, at Monticello, Iowa, the son of Robert C. and Eloise Schmidt, Wilcox. He graduated from the Monticello Community Schools with the class of 1965. He went to work at Highway Equipment in Cedar Rapids. Steven married Darlene Takes on February 20, 1971, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The couple made their home in Monticello and Pusky worked for the City of Monticello in the streets department.

Pusky loved hunting and fishing, even making his own fishing lures. Time spent with his family was the most important, especially time spent with his grandchildren and attending all of their events.
